Alpha Delta Delta Omega Chapter History

In spring and summer 2022, Veronica Johnson and Elizabeth Chisholm began discussing the idea of forming an Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority chapter closer to their Haymarket, VA area. After realizing the need for a local chapter, they began meeting and inviting other members to join their vision.

By July 2022, a core group gathered to focus on sisterhood and reclaiming inactive members. Over the next year, they hosted social, cultural, and service events — from teas, brunches, and yoga sessions to cemetery cleanups and vineyard socials — to strengthen bonds and grow interest.

In summer 2023, our group named ourselves P.E.A.R.L.S. (Positive. Empowering. Achieving. Resourceful. Lively. Sorors.) and submitted our Interest Group application in September. We conducted additional service projects, welcomed the Mid-Atlantic Regional Director, and were approved as an official Interest Group in November 2023.

Our group's elected officers, established bylaws, created a program calendar, and aligned activities with national initiatives, raising funds and building partnerships with local organizations. Through 2024, we completed multiple service projects addressing food insecurity, voter registration, youth leadership, and community beautification.

In December 2024, our chartering application was submitted and on February 21, 2025, the P.E.A.R.L.S. were approved to charter. On June 7, 2025, we were officially chartered under the Mid-Atlantic Regional Director, Nadine Vargas Stewart, and became the Alpha Delta Delta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated^®.
